pastor b is my hero

for about a month now my blog feeds have been displaying as very annoying summaries which people have had to click on to read in their entirety.  i have looked and looked and could not find the problem.  pastor b finally got tired of clicking on the summaries and figured it out.  he fixed it for me - -  while i was sitting on my couch watching a movie with my honey.  what a guy!  now the whole thing now shows up in google reader - images and all.  yay!!!!!!!!  pb- you’re my hero.

so, now, evidently this process caused my last 10 posts to to re-feed.  so, i’m very sorry for the duplicates.  but don’t they look sooooooooo much better now?  tnx pb.

issues

My blog seems to be having some issues…. images going extinct, feeds not feeding, movies not moving… not sure what’s up.  My last post didn’t post to my Google Reader so the purpose of this post is two fold:

  1. if you didn’t get my last feed, the matrix unloaded @ the cape fear fair and expo…then this post is to tell you about it.
  2. if you didn’t get my last feed or this feed then i have bigger issues than i thought.

If you happen to get this feed can you please send me a comment saying so.  Thanks!

google reader, kids… (one of more than one)

i’m getting more and more curious blank stares when I say, “google reader”.  so, to my friends who wonder how I possibly keep up with so many blogs… here you go… google reader 101. your 12 easy steps to informational freedom.

  1. go to igoogle.com and sign up for a gmail account. yes, you do need a gmail account. why? because google will eventually take over the world, and you need to be prepared for this.
  2. check your email to confirm your gmail account.
  3. go back to igoogle.com and sign in with your new google email address and password.
  4. make this page your new home page
  5. click “add stuff” (it’s in the top right corner of the screen)
  6. in the search field at the top type “google reader” and click “Search Homepage Content”
  7. the first one in the list should be “Google Reader (labs)”. click “add it now”. (poke around a while and add any modules that have information you want to keep up with)
  8. go back to your home page. you will see your new google reader panel on your home page with no feeds.
  9. click this link: subscribe to carolyn’s blog
  10. subscribe to this feed using “google” and click “subscribe now”
  11. click “add to google reader”
  12. go back to your home page - now every time i post it will pop up in your reader.

more cool things to do with google to come. keep an eye on your google reader for more… :-)

shure(r) is awesome

Shure(r) - It’s Your Sound ™

I love it when companies understand the value of great customer service.

  1. Our Shure UHF reciever went bad for our wireless mics - (Wouldn’t power on Sunday before last)
  2. It was well out of warranty (by at least 3 years)
  3. Went to Shure.com where they had the repair price posted for my out of warranty problem (That was Monday and it was $100)
  4. Downloaded a handy pdf that I could type my information into (love those), printed it out and sent it UPS Ground with my receiver (Monday)
  5. Received a BRAND NEW receiver (Today - 8 business days later)
  6. I panicked that my unit might not have been repairable and that I might have paid an arm and a leg for it
  7. Called Shure to see how much I was charged
  8. It was $100 (with free shipping)

This unit retails for $850.

Shure ROCKS!

jott to self…

So, Pastor Bryan came by my office today and we were talking about blogging… what all he was reading and people who are reading him and I was talking about the things I had read and who was not reading me… because I consistently pass up all the cool things in my brain and head straight for the frivolous.

I said, “I wish they would come up with a machine that would just transcribe my thoughts.”  Then PB proceeded to say tell me about Jott.com.

This is how it goes.  You dial the number, tell them who you want to send a message to, say all you have to say, it goes to these people in remote areas in the far corners of the earth.  They type it all up and e-mail it to you - or whoever you want it to go to.  The site right now is free,  but I am certain after transcribing this message they will start charging.  We’ll see how it goes.  This is the first of hopefully many.

Now I just have to learn to talk outside my head.  So if you see me driving down the road, moving my mouth but obviously not singing, and happen to notice that there is no one else in the car.  No need to call the psychiatric on call… I’m just practicing.  This has been a, “jott to self”…got it.

this could be really cool

youversion.com

check it out… it’s a free online bible that offers online collaboration, images, videos, notes and in the future your own personal group collaboration. looks like it will be kind of a wiki-bible on steroids. this will definitely be one to check in on once it’s up and running.  put together by lifechurch.tv.

be still my heart

so this is you friendly reminder to go back up all your precious digital pictures you have accumulated on your hard drives.  my heart sank as i went to turn my computer on only to have the little power light glow at me and fade away.  no spinning hard drive, no beautiful mac melodies… just silence and a little light that wanted to, yet couldn’t find the strength.

spent some time on the apple web site to find out that my poor baby was most likely toasted by lightning.  but, in my eternal optimism, i decided to try once more.  i reached down and pressed the button for a good long time… and it turned on.

all i could think about during those eternal 45 minutes was the years of photos i had backed up on my 2nd internal drive but not on anything more externally permanent.  this is about to change.

everyone go back up your pics this week (yeah, you.)

you’re welcome.
