Wow!
I recently moved to a new web hosting company. I have dealt in the past with all the big guys, yahoo, godaddy and the like, only to find myself frustrated by long delays, lack of control, database issues, slow upgrades, mistakes on my account or just generally weird problems that I wouldn’t expect from a well established company. And to try to get some help on the phone???? pshh…Forget about it. Sometimes it’s hard to even get email support (much less find an email address).
So, for my next project, foolishnotions.net, I decided to try someone new… someone well recommended by wordpress.org, the official web site for the open source blogware I planned to use. All I can say so far is, WOW! For 7.95 a month ($6.95 if you pay for 2 years in advance) I got a whole bunch of crazy features. But that’s not what impressed me the most. I signed up online, quick as quick… proud new owner of my new domain (free, by the way, as long as I host with them). As soon as I clicked submit, impatient and excited blogger that I am, I rushed right over to my control panel to log in. I was fully expecting the, “be patient please, you must wait for us to process your stuff,” type remarks only to be pleasantly surprised by my brand new site, up and running, seconds after submitting my payment. Awesome! But that’s still not as bloggable as what would happen next. They called me. Yes, a real live human, from a web hosting company actually picked up the phone, dialed my number and called – – me. They greeted me warmly, thanked me for choosing BlueHost, validated my information and ASKED IF I HAD ANY QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! As if the first two weren’t impressive enough. Web hosting companies hate questions…they go to extraordinary lengths to avoid them, fiercely condescending anyone who dare try to gleen from any of their vast technical expertise.
Needless to say, so far I am impressed. Way to go Bluehost. You are off to a great start. You have officially been blogged about (and it wasn’t to complain)
