i would…
- start a band, find our own style and write and play and sing songs that are all our own -Â inspired by our own observations of life and god
- go to school, major in graphic design and minor in business management
- learn as many instruments as i want, take voice lessons, write and learn to paint
- go to costa rica with ernie and cam for a year and learn spanish
- buy a vacation home while we are in costa rica (with lots of acres and a coffee farm on it) so we can sell coffee, rent it to vacationers and go back whenever we want
- bring my entire media team to c3 with us next year
- teach basic design and blogging classes at GAFA for free
- update my entire house… floors, cabinets, walls, furniture. all of it – - – gutted.
- hire someone to clean my house every week
- buy all good food and eat as healthy as i want without worrying about how much it costs
- learn to surf
- bring in a professional sound guy to teach me and my team everything he knows
- buy a place for my dad and somehow persuade him to move down here and just start all over
- send ernie to the school of his choice to get the degree of his choice to pursue the career of his dreams
- buy what we need at The ROCK to do what we gotta do… all new lights, sound, sanctuary redesign, video – all of it…  right out of my own pocket… oh my goodness – - that would be so stinkin’ cool.
what would you do if you could?

trees sopped in monet paint
hung against an ansel sky
van gogh elements
blow wildly across picasso lines
profit in drought
necessity in harshness
nothing is fully alive
as when it has died
adversity blooms in celebration
death desires a joyful dance
passion releases a hue unrestrained
purpose, in burning brilliance
change as certain as god unchanging
immortal life finds repose
a pause to re-purpose
tomorrow a new masterpiece to compose

i have been meaning to blog this story for too long. i have to get it down before it leaves my brain forever. this is my new cameron story from the county fair this year.
we were leaving the fair walking back to the car in the dark just chatting about this and that when cam said, “hey, mom?” (he starts every conversation this way these days. doesn’t matter how many conversations we’ve had in the past 30 seconds. if it is a new topic, he starts off, hey mom?) Anyway….
“hey mom?”
“yes.”
“did you know that steffan has already had lots of ex-girlfriends?”
“i thought you actually had to have a girlfriend before you could have an ex-girlfriend.”
“mom.” eyes rolled with that duuuhhh look on his face. “do you even know what an ex-girlfriend is?”
somehow i managed to stop my adult logic somewhere in the thin space between the tip of my tongue and my front teeth. i reconsidered my first response in favor of… “what?”
“an ex-girlfriend is a girlfriend you don’t kiss!”
“ooooooh.”
(of course it is. i really couldn’t argue.)
