kyle came by the office to pick up george at 9:30 today. the project? announcement video for this sunday. he’s never used george. i’ve not used george very much. so, here’s how our conversations went throughout the course of the day…
“so”, he said, “how does he work?”
“well, let’s see. this goes… here. no, that’s not right. where’s the other cable? k, yes. there. then you… let’s see….” annnnd… that’s how my instruction pretty much went for the next 10 minutes which i followed with a chipper, “ok. ya, got it?”
“got it.”
“have fun.”
about 30 minutes later kyle called me. “I can’t hear anything.”
“um, i don’t know. are you using headphones?”
“yeah, do iphone earbuds work?”
“yes, i used mine last week. let me pull the user manual.” i pull up the user manual. “hmmm… nothin. better call pb, he probably figured it out last week when he was using it.”
“k, will do.”
two hours later he walks in the office excited about the great stuff he got at mayfaire with matthew. we have our training dvd for final cut in but it just came in yesterday and neither one of us has had a chance to watch it. so i told him, “just use vegas for now.”
“hmmmm sony vegas 7… i guess it’s probably similar.”
“oh, it’s simple. here, first you…. um - - hang on, let me find it. there. and then you… where was it?”
then lori pops her head around the corner. “i’m gonna have to leave now.” which meant i have to leave because wisdom says a guy and a girl are not allowed to be alone at the church at the same time.
“i have to go, kyle. i feel like i’m abandoning you. call me if you need me.”
“it’s good. i got it.”
about an hour later i realized i had not passed along my most useful peice of advice from all of my years of graphic designing. so, i sent him a text…
“tip: save often. ;)”
lol. ok, so you get the idea. we don’t know what in the world we’re doing. it’s great. cause he just sent me a text saying it’s rendering. and i saw the original footage…. i know it’s gonna be awesome.
so, go ahead! tell us we can’t… or don’t know how. it doesn’t matter, cause…
we don’t know how not to!
go team ROCK!
