911, what’s your emergency? (2 of 2)

the blue lights came on and our light turned green…

ok, they got her. she pulled over. sorry, I couldn’t resist. :-D

the police officer came back to get our side of the story. we told him the whole thing.

“so where did the actual collision happen?” the officer asked.

ernie and I looked at each other and remembered our pre-collision conversation and smiled. “we were just passed the jones sausage road exit.”

“on this side?”

“yes, sir.”

“are you sure?”

“yes, sir. we are absolutely sure. we were talking about the name of the road when she hit us.”

“good. because I can’t cover anything east of jones sausage road.” (what are the odds of that, i thought.)

we watched as they put the girl in cuffs and put her in the squad car. an officer came back to the car to give us the insurance swap form and find out if there was anything else he could do for us.

“what was her deal?” ernie asked.

“she’s been drinking. she’going in for a DUI.”

we asked the officer of he would let us turn around because our car is not driving real well and we were headed onto the off ramp to get back on the highway. he blocked the intersection and we limped to a nearby gas station to find a phone book which they did not have. ultimately we made it to a muffler shop about two blocks away where our car cut off as we pulled into a parking spot to crank no more.

the rest is pretty mundain… rental cars insurance calls. but we are both relatively fine. my back and neck hurt a little so i will be calling dr. sonya when i get home. we were back on the road in about two hours in a bright red chevy. we had a great time at mom’s and are very thankful to be alive and that cam was not in the car with us.

i’ve thought about the girl often. she’s going to have a rough road ahead of her over this. she is only 19. i really pray that god will somehow use this to help her get whatever things are out of whack in her life - - straight.

that’s it for now. fa la la la la!

Tell Ernie that I like you guys alive better than your having to pay for something that wasn’t your fault. IE, that could have been “a get away car with gun toters waiting for him”. All the same, I’m glad she got caught!

What an incredible story! Like something out of Cops. I would NEVER have run her down like that! It takes a guy, I guess. No wonder she ran the red light to get away from Ernie, he’s looking kind of tough these days! How could she know he’s a big Christian teddy bear… with a do-or-die glint in his eye, apparently.

Hope your neck feels better soon…
