to decide and to choose…

i believe to decide and to choose are humanity’s two greatest super powers.

this statement is the long and short of what has been tumbling around in my spirit lately.  every moment of every day we are faced with situations that require a decision and result in a choice.  some are big and some are small.  but the cumulative effect of all of these decisions and choices determine who we are, how we respond to life’s challenges and how great our influence will be…

no pressure.

i think my greatest decision and choice of recent is to be more responsible for my verbal and non-verbal responses to the situation of the moment.  no one chooses how i communicate but me.  and how i communicate should be determined by my choice to love god and my neighbors rather than the circumstances that may be pressing me at the moment.

ok. you go.
what decisions and choices have you been faced with lately?
what is your take on how our decisions and choices shape us?

A big one that I’ve been working on lately is in regards to my attitude.

For so long I had allowed what happens to me in life decide my attitude. I was reacting to life. I’ve been realizing the my attitude alone has the power to shape and even change my life. It’s powerful.

I have been choosing to have a good attitude before I set the first foot on the floor in the morning. And no matter what may happen throughout the day that’s bad, I have already chosen to have to respond with a good attitude. Will I always succeed? No. But I am always aware and mindful of it. So I figure if I succeed 70% of the time, it will still be huge.

It comes down to not just letting life happen to us. I take control of the only thing I really can control. Which is of course….my attitude.

    great post!

    Hey Girl!
Jeffro said he found your blog here a while back and I’m JUST now getting the time to check it out…NICE! I’m glad you finally have an outlet for that 1000mph brain of yours :-)
I’m married, 4 kids, 2 older boys (one in high school, one a freshman in highschool 18 & 15)) 2 younger girls (one in 6th grade and one in 4th grade 11 & 8). My wife had three when we got married and we had one of our own…but they’re ALL really mine at least in heart :-)
VERY good post, this one above. We’ve had some family devotions from the book of James on that! And it really is HARD to not just weigh in on everything WITH everything you think about it. One of the fruit of the spirit is self control after all :-)
Anyways, wanted to say hi…hope you’re doing well…and write me and tell me about your journey….Wilmington huh????

    Whit
